Our Mission

A place for young wrestlers to succeed — and stay in the sport.

CAGWA provides a venue for youth wrestlers to compete against others with similar years of experience, in a setting like what they'll see at the next level. The goal: give them a real chance to succeed, keep them interested in wrestling, and grow the sport in California.

Why it matters. Too many kids leave wrestling after a year or two because they're thrown in against far more experienced opponents week after week. Our JV and Varsity structure lets wrestlers build confidence against kids at their own level.

The MODEL

CAGWA sanctions two kinds of tournaments. JV (K-8) is for true first-year wrestlers who haven't competed before September 1, 2025. Varsity (K-8) is for second-year and beyond. It's a development-first structure — not a place to overmatch beginners.
